Death By Chocolate Cookies
By Brandy Smith

“Perfect for the serious chocolate lover.  Very rich though!”

1 package (8 squares) of semi-sweet baking chocolate
3/4 cup of firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine softened
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup baking powder
1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chunks
2 cups walnuts (optional)

Preheat over to 350 degrees.  Microwave chocolate squares in a large bowl for high for 2 minutes.  Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth.  Stir in sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla until well blended.  Stir in flour and baking powder.  Stir in chocolate chunks and nuts.  ** If not using nuts increase flour to 3/4 cup to prevent spreading. **  Drop by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto uncreased cookie sheets.  Bake for 13 to 14 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch.  Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute.  Move to wire rack to cool completely.  (Although I think they taste good a little warm!)  Makes about 15-18 large cookies.
